On the Thursday authors Elizabeth Manning-Ives, Enid Thwaites, Tricia Cass, Sandra Delf and Suzan Collins were delighted to be back at the fabulous Saxmundham Library. A fantastic group and one that is genuinely interested in the authors and their progress.
The authors look forward to going back next year with more new releases and it’s the authors turn to buy the cakes next time!
Delighted to welcome writers Tricia Cass and Rosie Owen to the Waveney Author Group.
Both Tricia and Rosie joined other writers at the recent Get Writing writing weekend and you can see them here https://getwriting2.wordpress.com/2016/05/10/writing-weekend/
Although on tour with the Waveney Author Group Pam Finch took time out to cook 117 fried eggs for charity event.
Thursday, 18th February was the annual Big Breakfast organised by the Friends of Beccles Cancer UK. With pals Julia and Lyn they were busy cooking breakfasts from 7.30am until noon. The wonderful support from local people this event, held at the Beccles Public Hall, raised over £1,000.
The Waveney Author Group is already under way on their 13-date tour covering Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and London.
Their most recent event was an invite by the Woodbridge Novel Group at Woodbridge library on Wed 17th Feb to talk about their route to publishing. The talk was well attended with 21 writers eagerly seeking knowledge from authors Bronwen Grono, Elizabeth Manning-Ives, Enid Thwaites Pam Wilde and Suzan Collins.
Coming back after the event the authors stopped at The Shed and The Workbench at Henstead for a well-earned lunch and to discuss with the owner, Ellen Winser, the forthcoming Get Writing workshops being held there in August.
Pic attached L-R: Ellen (owner of The Shed and The Workbench), Suzan Collins, Enid Thwaites, Elizabeth Manning-Ives, Pam Finch and Bronwen Grono.
Having the opportunity to go to Tenerife for the sun, sand and opportunity to write was one some of the authors could not resist.
Armed with laptops, pens and paper Lucy, Pam and Suzan sat and drank tea and coffee before flying to Tenerife
They each had their own rooms which were on the 9th floor. Fortunately there was a lift but chose to walk down the nine flights for meals, in fact every time they needed to go down stairs they walked.
Lovely swimming pool even if it was too cold to go in.
They had many writing spots and here are just a few:
El Rayo Pastelaria (pastry shop)
Lucy, Suzan and Pam
Champagne at breakfast.
Lots of walking and writing done.
End of the week arrived and they boarded the plane to go home:
L-R: Hostess, Simon (Pilot), Suzan & Lucy
L-R: Pam, Simon (Pilot), two hostesses & Simon (the other pilot)
As part of the Waveney Author Group On Tour authors Pam Finch, Elizabeth Manning Ives aka Helen Thwaites, Suzan Collins and Enid Thwaites will be on air from 1-2pm today, talking about their writing, their charities and everything writery. Will cake will be mentioned?
I wonder how often the fabulous The Coconut Loft The Hatfield Hotel Desmonds Lowestoft and Clyffe Hotel will be mentioned? All venues for this year’s East Anglian Festival and right by the Award winning Blue Flag beach and within the up and coming and thriving Kirkley area of Lowestoft in Suffolk.
